2dae is a boring day when predicted and so i decided to change it. I jio yan to go out... he say "later then say la... not tired..." crap reply.. LOL.. anyway.. after some dota games... yan decided to go out to buy his non camera phone. so i ooo.. going out at last... cool.. well our 1st stop was Our Kind of Place... Jurong Point!.. well nth much of interest... few choices too. next stop.. Plaza Singapura... there not bad.. alot of phones... after going to MOS burger to fill up tat food monster.. we went to handphone shop to browse some no cam phones.. lol.. Samsung, LG, SE, Nokia, Motorola.. well in the end.. best choice was Nokia... Yan bought a Nokia 1209 for $65.90 + 2nd battery for $28 = $93.90 lol.... well it quite good though... useful is the word.

I was at Jurong Point UOB Bank. They have 2 CDM but 1 is always out of service. I really duno y la.. sucks anyway. Well as usual the CDM (Cash Deposit Machine) is again with a Q. Ok 4 pax in front of me.. still can wait la... well waited for a while.. ok 5 mins past.. left with the person infront of me... 2 singaporean chinese with a stack of $10 notes and $5 notes. Nxt is my turn yay.. shld be fast.. well.. in fact it turned out to be slower than i expected. 5 mins past.. the 2 guys have tried 3 times... the machine still rejects their notes.. damn... and guess wad.. the machine became out of service too.. everyone in the Q all dulan... all walk away... left with the 2 guys calling the hotline for assistance.. Why? cos their money got stuck inside. HAHA...

TouchLight is an imaging touch screen and 3D display for gesture-based interaction. It was developed by Microsoft Research employee Andrew D. Wilson and made known to the public in late 2005. The technology was licensed to Eon Reality in July of 2006.

Abilities

The TouchLight can both record and project simultaneously, and due to its 3D capabilities can be used almost as a mirror. This same principle could be applied to link two TouchLights together allowing two people anywhere in the world to communicate with each other as if they were sitting on opposite sides of the same desk. It can capture a high definition image of anything placed up against the screen. This image is then displayed in 2D. The user of the TouchLight can manipulate the size, position and orientation of the image by performing the corresponding action with his or her hands. The screen has a microphone built in that can detect vibration, thus allowing the user to change setting simply by tapping the screen.

Cost

At present the high end product costs upwards of $60,000, however Eon Reality predicts that within 24 to 36 months the technology will be affordable enough for desktops.

There was once a pair of shoe. Shiny and attractive as it appears to be. It attracted a lot of attention and thus its highly in demand and many people wants to have a chance to wear it.

There was this guy, well lucky guy he seems to be. This pair of shoe went to him by chance. So he decided to give it a try and hastely put on the shoes. Now with this pair of shoes, he walked proudly around. Well after a period of time, blisters began to appear on his feet. Painful as it is, he thought to himself, "The shoes are quite new, maybe with seasoning it might turn out to be comfortable."

The shoe turned out to be nice looking but comfortable occasionally, but it actually increases the blisters on people's feet frequently. So there came to a point of time whereby the guy could not withstand the pain he is suffering. He came to a pitstop and thought that maybe it was a wrong decision of him to wear it.

He decided to take off the shoes so as not to hurt his himself even more. With an immediate removal of his shoes, another owner came along, wore it and moved along. Currently bare footed he said, "When I was wearing the shoes, it was such an attention grabbing sight. With a long line and huge crowd of fans waiting to try it on. People do not know the truth until they have tried it on."

In life, shoe are plenty but perfect ones are hard to search. A pair of shoe that is able to fit comfortably would require time and effort to obtain. The cost of the shoes do not need to be too expensive unless you can afford it. The fashion and appearance of it would not matter much. A simple plain looking shoe who knows might be the best choice of all. There is really different kinds of shoes out there from several countries but each of them has their speciality and each of them is unique. Do try some old pairs and normal ones, the size of the shoe doesn't really matter.

Dusty Computers users Beware of auto-restarts & hangs!

Zhi Wei's dusty desktop is a great LOL. haha.. 2dae i spent my day at his house, trying and figuring out what happened to his computer.

Known symptoms

Auto restart

Occasional hangs

Weird display language in startup mode (Seems English but yet not English)

Super loud sound (Assumption of his noisy fan)

Very hot CPU (Found to be at an average of 73 Degree Celsius - can cook egg)

What have i done?

Run check disk to fix --> seems nothing wrong at first

Check Direct Diagnoses --> All display graphics card and sound card is working fine

Check Device Manager --> All devices are in working condition. No errors or problems reported.

Reformatted the OS (Quick format) --> problem of restarting and hanging still occurred

Reformatted the OS again (Full format) --> same problem still exist

Decided to find professional help (Sim Lim Square) --> As i really can't find the problem. Everything seems fine. But it just hangs and auto restart. Haha.

What it turned out to be! (Sim Lim Sq's Solution)

"Your CPU is dusty, especially your fan. Everthing else seems in good working condition. Go take a walk for half an hour and when it is ready we will call you. We help you do cleaning services." LOL. What a joke. But it is really dusty. And this is a problem that i could not find. BECAUSE I NEVER OPEN THE CPU!

Resulted in a $31 cleaning service charge with 1 month warranty and they updated all the hardware drivers.

Com is running ok

Abit slower

Fan and CPU no longer noisy

Everything seems to be working fine.

Conclusion (Summary of lesson learned)

Always clean your computer to be Dust-Free

Maintain your computer at least once a month

It is good to keep your computer cool at all times

When your computer is making alot of noise, try to do some maintenance

Pay Day - About CPF contribution

Dear readers, correct me the below information is inaccurate in anyway.

I have a question for the people out there. It is known that earning more than S$500 is liable for CPF contribution. How much is the CPF contribution rate? In terms of percentage, i concluded that is should be 15% (Rounded to the nearest whole number). Therefore, with every payday cheque i get 85% of the whole.

With reference with my recent wages received, CPF has taken away $109 from me. Saddening right? But no worries, I shall be rich in future.

In conclusion, 100% in actual amount payment will be split into 85% into my own bank account, 15% into CPF account.

Lastly, the great thing is... My bank is able to withdraw money now, unlike the past. (Since Dec 2007) Good improvement.

StreetDirectory.com's Closure
On the other hand, bad news emerged for StreetDirectory.com. The popular StreetDirectory.com online map website has closed down. The parent company, Virtual Map, has lost its appeal against the Singapore Land Authority (SLA) over copywrited infringement materials over the past week.

It's a saddening news for StreetDirectory.com Fans out there. But don't be totally disappointed. Although the site has been taken down 2 days ago, Virtual Map is currently working on a set of replacement maps, non-infringing, to save the site to be back online in an estimated 2 days time.

Meanwhile, alternative online maps are available at sites like the SLA's StreetMap and Show Nearby.

Singapore Flyer with Rotary FSC

Today is my 1st time to Singapore Flyer. Haha. Standard price is about $30 per person. But our ticket was sponsored by Rotary Club of Jurong Town. They are paying $200 per pax (As a Charity Event). They pay and donate, we enjoy the trip. Yeah! How nice of them. =) It was quite fun going with the kids. I went with Tecky, Derek, Shu Xian, Clarine and 2 Clementi Rotary FSC(Family Service Centre) staff. Enjoyed my time there. 1 round is about 30 mins. We actually had 2 rounds but with the kids getting restless and with the wheel moving so slowly, we decided to take only 1 round. Yeah, we are a bit impatient. Too slow for us young people. Right? Haha.

But to tell you the truth. It's not worth it, if you are paying for the ticket. There are hotels and other buildings higher than the Singapore Flyer. The best view do not only come from Singapore Flyer, there are others out there as well. Well anyway, it's a nice experience.

Watched "Horton Hears A Who!" movie 2dae. haha.. quite a nice and interesting movie. it is very meaningful too. A big elephant saving a small speck. On the small speck lives an entire town of people. Wow! Interesting! yea. but it's very dangerous to live on such world. Just imagine you are living on a speck, in your own there is another world bigger of yours.

Looking at this map. I really hope to have such a system. I would bring convenience to a lot of people and save a lot of travel time. Comparing trains to buses, trains will be a better solution as the travel time, reliability can be much better if the train systems expands into area which only buses are accessible with.

Woke up at 1.30pm and online and started to chat. had late lunch about 3pm+ blar blar.. do other stuff..
7pm+ went to bukit batok to meet kah chuan and shinny.. decided to eat dinner so went to westmall kou fu and waited for qian jun to reach. eat and chat.. haha.. after a while it was time about 9pm and time to go qian jun hse. but b4 going.. met lian hui and charmaine 1st, went to shop and save to buy snacks then set off. at her hse, settled down and used her sister's room for accomodation, people in the room was qian jun, shinny, charmaine, lian hui, kah chuan and me.. haha.. stuffy it was, but cosy it was too... with a fan that made so much noise.. we decided to switch it off. tried to repair the fan though.. but to no avail.. the temporary repair still broke off.. thus making lots of noisy fan sound. btw.. out of curiousity.. the fan has 2 screws missing.. thats the main reason.. why ah? haha.. loose fan makes a hell of a noise. anyway.. we watched "BeoWulf", then slowly the rest went to sleep, left with me and charmaine watching 2 movies at the same time. watched "Alvin and the chipmunks" and "Stay Alive" at the same time. lols.. in the end i slept at 5.40am+. charmaine was the last to slp at 6am+.
yawn.. time to wake up.. i woke up at 10.30am。 found out that qian jun and lian hui has left.. haha.. lian hui go out find fren, qian jun go poly clinic work but while i was slping i heard alot of noises... qian jun and lian hui moving around.. mus be.. so kind of qian jun parents to buy food for us. hmm.. we woke up near lunch time.. so i presume its lunch cum breakfast. haha.. after food.. packed out stuff and left.. went to west mall to walk a while more..home sweet home. kah chuan and shinny go sch for hi club practice, me and charmaine go home. this week end kah chuan will be back in malaysia.. he will be back in singapore on monday morning.

2dae is a quite a busy day.. from wad i see.. haha.. people moving about.. and running frantically about. cos tmr is Good Friday a public holiday... public holiday's work will be split among other days so 1.5days work squeeze into 1 days work.. 2dae i came abit late to work.. haha.. realli i m tired.. starting of the day.. the people already looked stressed .. ate prawn mee for lunch, after lunch .. things did not get better.. it jus got worse.. haha.. lots of problem arised at their work.. not really wad i can do about... so they got very stressed.. after that meeting again.. then at the end of the day.. at least solved most of the problem.. the rest will jus move on to next week.. to settle.

on my way home, saw a cat on top of a van licking itself and nv noticed me.. haa.. then when i stopped to look at it.. it stare at me.. after a while it ran. cos i was tryin to take a closer picture of it.

hey.. 2dae 1st time meeting sia at work.. 12-1pm but.. its turn out to be quite boring.. topic is impt to them.. but dnt really concern much for temps.. duno y temps mus go and attend.. lols.. well. at least can waste 1hr+ not doing work.. jus listenin to them.hah.. meeting started late.. ended late also.. ate into my lunchtime.. so yea.. 2dae got late lunch. now is 2.30pm.. after food.. full le.. rain again 2dae. so sian. yawn.. feelin tired again... grr...at least there is some entertainment on MSN.. yea.. love tat..raining days are slpin days.. haha..dnt u tink so?

2dae is another typical working day... with the kind of monday blues ... nth much interesting happened.. hmm.. 2dae met up with Karin for lunch at KFC Bugis. 12.30+ till 1.40+ eat, chat, gossip and laugh. haha.. with such a long duration between 2 lessons 1 in the early morning and another in the late afternoon, she decided to pon the aftnoon lesson.. LOL.. wahhh.. so aft we ate.. she went back to sch to submit an assignment b4 going home and.. i went back to office to do some work.. =D..

1142HRS - not bad at all... 2dae teach new stuff hehe... its not that bored after all. it just gets more and more interesting.
Lunchtime - wahh.. rain again... rain until dunwan go out and buy food le.. at 1st we decided to order KFC.. then.. KFC say raining.. they dnt deliver... got such stuff meh.. rain no delivery.. =.= .. ok.. nvm.. then then called Mcdonald's... Mcd say.. rain can deliver but need 90 mins.. wth.. so super long.. =.= another one.. so in the end.. when down to level 1 to buy Qi Ji and eat.. no space to seat cos we 8 of us.. so in the end.. ta bao up to office and eat.. haha..

After a whole day of doing nth at work. Time to find some people to cheer me up. So i called kah chuan if he wanna eat dinner. anyway there was no dinner home also.. got to eat out or cook noodles at home. so he brought along Tian Tian too.. recently everyday rain rain rain.. jam jam jam.. 2 MRT also move until so close.. the next train is 1 min away. super fast.. but fully packed. so we go clementi to find cheap food and me and kc too the $2.90 set. Tian Tian took the $4.90 set. haha. chit chat.. make a hell of noise and do stupid things.. then i took pic.. yeah.. took some ugly shots.. then after that no where to go.. 9pm+ le.. time to go home..

wow.. the 2nd day of work.. seems more n more interesting.. but more tiring though.. task is simple.. procedure is damn long.. how to rmb... grr... well.. i found out that there is another person call the same name as me there.. Jansen Ng... 今天麻就跟倩君和加川去学校的gym. 6点多gym到7点半。Charmaine，正美， shinny 就来. 只有秀其加入我们的gym活动. 因为正美刚放工没准备好，shinny的原因是为了她的第一天月經。8点半Kit业到来，我们也去冲凉，准备离开。9点alumni 的设施就会关了。Tired.. phew.. After that we went to the nearby Al-meen Prata Eating House. (After 15 minutes of walking up and down the stalls along the roadside, thinking of what to eat. SOo SLoW). I ate the usual (1 Egg prata, 1 Cheese prata, 1 bandung dinosaur), others ordered their food.. and.. the slowest and most troublesome one is.. *Ahem* Ms Yap.. Choosy, cant decide, keep changing orders... but ya la.. she provided us with entertainment. We sat there super long and chated about many stuff.. mainly gossiping and more of the previous Thailand trip. Talk and talk until 11pm+ damn late.. time to go.. cya soon... All went home.

在中学时，我的华文是没水准。当初还每个测验都几乎不及格。直到O水准考试才刚刚及格。还记得当时的徐老师。不听的叫我进步。哈哈想起来也满好笑。那时还真笨阿做了好多傻事。哈哈。今天刚好有机会跟徐老师 (Fiona - 我的中学华文老师)聊天。真开心。那时的学生们都长大了。那时的我是班上华文最差的。不过居然能够在这刻跟老师一起谈天说地真是特别开朗。

Sad. yesterday i asked qian jun to help me keep a lookout for jobs. surprisingly kailin also finding. then there was actually a possible job which is working at the IT fair. Hoping for a good news. but to my disappointment, qianjun replied with a "the IT show they already got people le. so cannot". but she quite good la.. with a continuation of "but i'll keep a lookout for other jobs for you all" =D. Thats nice of her. To add on, Kailin actually have a higher demand for pay and working hours. wahaha.. typical la.

woo.. chatted with alot of rotaract people last night. (taiwanese and singaporean) 超爽的。 used Skype and MSN mass chat. due to a bit of problem on Skype whereby the voices were abit digitalized and abit lag, abit blurry, we switched to MSN text mass chat instead. Better than usual. More lively than usual. About 12 people in the chat. damn alot.
After many had disappeared, I had a private chat with winnie and felt much happier as we explained each other's thoughts and chated as well. well i m getting much happier after all. I see a better future somehow.

Have been busy with the Taiwanese for so long until i recently knew about this incident. Haha.
Its all over the news yet i didn't know. because i never watch the news. LOL. This man is know to have the intention of bombing Singapore. The weird thing is How did he escape? Known for strong and tight security, he should not have escaped from our local detention centre. Just wondering. Is there any conspiracy? Any bribing involved? I doubt the local authorities will release such information. Beware and be on the alert. Call me if you see him. Can get an autograph from him. Haha.

Went out for a chit chat session with Kit, Qian Jun, Kah Chuan, Shinny, Charmaine. 6 of us went to QiJi (Marina Square to eat) because we abit broke, so went to eat cheap cheap. We planned to meet 7pm but I i reached at 7.45pm. Paiseh and sorry. Got something happened at home that delayed my time seriously. 不过不方便说。哈哈。 Then we went to esplanade. but cant find a suitable place to chat. Instead we went to the toilet. Then we continued searching and went to Merlion Park 的 Starbucks Coffee. 在那聊了超久也有一个多小时吧。 That Starbucks outlet closes at 10pm, but we sat there until 10.40pm+ until they chase us. After which, we shifted location and found a place near the toilet. Hmm. You might be wondering, what did we talked after all? Well.. gossiping of course. 八卦最好聊了。八卦的事不能说出来。好吧就说一点是关于什么topic. 就是爱情的事啦。聊了聊就11点多了。该回家了。

三月一号

Email Feminism boosts sexual satisfaction for both men and women, a new study suggests.

Busting stereotypes that peg feminists as men-haters, a new study shows that having a feminist partner is linked with healthier, more romantic heterosexual relationships.

The study, published online this week in the journal Sex Roles, relied on surveys of both college students and older adults, finding that women with egalitarian attitudes do find mates and men do find them attractive. In fact, results reveal they are having a good time, maybe a better time than the non-feminists.

Both men and women are prone to holding negative views of feminists, the authors say. Along with the sexually unattractive stereotype, some women also view feminism as a movement for victims, or for women who aren't competent enough to achieve success on their own merit, according to the Rutgers University researchers.

Psychologists Laurie Rudman and Julie Phelan carried out a laboratory survey of 242 Rutgers undergraduates and conducted an online survey of 289 older adults who had an average age of 26 and typically had been in their current relationship about four years.

Older adults have more life experience "and thus may be more likely to show an incompatibility between feminism and romantic relationships," Rudman and Phelan write. While younger females likely grew up with the attitude that "women can have it all," the researchers note older women may have come of age in the era following U.S. women's suffrage (1919) or during the women's movement that emerged in the 1960s.

The researchers looked at people's perception of their own feminism, their partner's feminism and whether they had positive views of feminists and career women. Other survey measures included overall relationship quality, agreement about gender equality, relationship stability and sexual satisfaction.

For example, relationship quality was measured with questions such as: How often do you and your partner laugh together? And how often do you and your partner quarrel? For stability measures, participants answered how often they considered terminating the relationship, as well as how often they thought their romantic relationship had a good future.

Among the findings:

College-age women who reported having feminist male partners also reported higher quality relationships that were more stable than couples involving non-feminist male partners.
College guys who were themselves feminists and had feminist partners reported more equality in their relationships.
Older women who perceived their male partners as feminists reported greater relationship health and sexual satisfaction.
Older men with feminist partners said they had more stable relationships and greater sexual satisfaction.
Overall, feminism and romance do go hand in hand, the scientists say.

While they aren't sure how feminism works to enhance relationship health, the researchers have some ideas. Feminist men might be more supportive of their female partner's ambitions than are traditionalists. Men with feminist partners may enjoy the extra breadwinner to share the economic burden of maintaining a household.

New research suggests this might happen because of intense competition over sex.
Scientists compared monogamous species with polygynous species, in which each male mates with many females. Males in monogamous species, such as the barnacle goose or the dwarf mongoose, naturally compete less over females than ones in polygynous species, such as the red-winged blackbird or the savannah baboon.
After investigating about 20 different vertebrate species, researchers Tim Clutton-Brock and Kavita Isvaran at the University of Cambridge in England found the more polygynous a species was, the more likely their males were to age faster and die earlier than females.
The researchers explained that as competition among males for sex grows more intense, each male on average has less time to breed. As such, there is no strong incentive to evolve longevity among males in such species.
Since men age faster and die earlier than women, these findings suggest that "at the time when current human physiology evolved, perhaps around the late Stone Age, polygynous breeding was the norm," Clutton-Brock told LiveScience. "Of course, this doesn't provide any justification for polygyny or promiscuity now for males."
Clutton-Brock and Isvaran detailed their findings online Oct. 17 in the journal Proceedings of the Royal Society B.
